P2025 links: Makary served as an advisor to the conservative free market think tank Paragon Health Institute, linked to the billionaire Lynn and Hadley Bradley family’s foundation. The Bradleys are right-wing major donors to Project 2025 advisory groups, including Leonard Leo-linked Judicial Education Project. In 2022, Paragon also got a $1,000,000 donation from Leo-run Donor’s Trust, a dark money fund that also funded a majority of Project 2025 advisory board member groups that year.

Disqualifications: An initial supporter of Covid lockdowns, he became Covid and other vaccine mandate denier, and claimed the government was promoting misinformation. He promoted “natural immunity” as equal to, or better than, Covid vaccines, and claimed the US would reach “herd immunity” by April 2021, ideas  that were disproven in Covid studies – notably US and global Covid death data. He has publicly stated his plan to support RFK Jr.’s radical views on nutrition. Paragon Health Institute had led attacks on Medicaid expansion.
