The Word Is Spreading about Project 2025!
Now for More Mobilization & Ways for You to Plug in….

Greetings from our campaign and welcome to so many of you who have signed on to get involved and learn more about Stop the Coup 2025 and our grassroots campaign to fight Project 2025. I’m happy to report that we now have over 700 subscribers, while over 4800 unique visitors have visited our website and reports. We’re growing quickly, thanks to you.
New Dark Money Exposé!
Who’s Behind Project 2025? We recently completed an investigative report that reveals Leonard Leo, a US lawyer and Catholic activist who helped place five Supreme Court justices on the bench, has used dark money to bankroll Project 2025. Leo’s world is a tight-knit, overlapping network of advisory groups and extremist operatives, some linked to the Catholic sect Opus Dei. Check it out.
How Does Project 2025 Affect Me?
We’ve developed a series of brief summaries of how Project 2025 affects people in different key sectors targeted by the right-wing attack plan. They include farmers, immigrants, LGBTQ folks, women, and the media, for starters. We’ve also shared a new Reader’s Guide to Project 2025 and its Propaganda -- to unpack the GOP’s hateful rhetoric. It’s not just what is said, but how, that matters. We will add to that series, too. So please, have a look and share with others. Education is a critical part of our work, and we welcome your help with this collective task.
Help Get The Word Out
The most important thing we can do now – still – is get the word out fast, and especially to grassroots and community social justice organizers, government, faith, and business leaders, and especially to groups pushing to get out the vote and in sectors targeted by Project 2025: immigrants, women, LGBTQ folks, students and educators, federal workers… it’s a big list. Start with your friends and family and community. We need everyone to help and that is where your efforts can make a big difference. So please, help us multiply the message.
Here are a few other ways you can amplify the message: Our media and social media outreach is spreading the word. We are getting great traction on X, Instagram, and Facebook, but we need to reach many more people. Check out our videos from the January 27 DC launch rally and share the campaign’s messages and content on social media and with your local media outlets.
Estamos en Español! We’re working with a small team and volunteers, but we are committed to having our core materials in Spanish. Check out these materials and please share them too. And if you are a translator, or want to see this content in another language, please get in touch. We welcome translation help!
Tell us what you’d like to do: We’re inviting you to help us brainstorm and carry out our campaign activities, both online and where you live or work. Fill out our form for Volunteering for Action Planning, Education, Translation. We know you have a lot of skills, contacts, resources, and experiences. Tell us what most interests you, what you might want to do, your interests or skills, and we’ll follow up.
Our campaign has about 150 activists, many from New York, but a growing coalition, now engaged online in discussions of actions and strategy. We recently formed two working groups (action tanks!) on education and action planning. We’ll be happy to plug you in as those develop.
Outreach and Mobilization
Since our launch, we’ve had opportunities to talk about Project 2025 on the radio, and via Zoom presentations to ally and pro-democratic networks. We work closely with the Center for Popular Democracy, and Rise and Resist in New York, among key allies. We’re also working to share and amplify the work of allies also focused on fighting Project 2025’s threats. We’re now planning a monthly call for grassroots activists, and plan outreach to key voting rights groups, and swing state organizers, and youth, among critical groups in this election period. Stay tuned.
The threat to federal workers: Project 2025 includes a plan to fire (“reassign”) some 50,000 federal workers and put Christian loyalists in their place – a move to politicize the federal government. New information suggests tens of thousands of career employees may be targeted. We’ve teaming up with federal labor union officials to sound that alarm, and focus on actions Congress and the American public can take to prevent that from happening. We’ll be posting updates on our website about this work.
In the Works: An Activist Toolkit, Workshops, and a Pride LGBTQ campaign. As ACT UP famously said, Knowledge = Power. Yes, but information by itself isn’t a solution; it’s a tool for empowerment. It must be accessible and actionable. We’re creating an Activist Toolkit and plan training workshops with allies, and a national Pride campaign to mobilize LGBTQ+ folks. Watch for updates on the website.
