Dear CoupStopper:

Juneteenth marks an incredible day of celebration for America, being the annual marker of America’s progress to end American slavery and to celebrate Black freedom and culture. We wanted to take this day to raise our voices in support of the importance of Juneteeth, particularly in light of the escalating attacks on Black and brown lives, rights, voices and history.

We have just released a new analysis of the conservative Christian nationalist movement’s vision for America titled White Supremacy and White Grievance: A Look at Project 2025’s Deeply Racist Agenda. It discusses the underlying political and cultural agenda of white supremacy that infuses Project 2025 and how the blueprint impacts people of color and their communities in America. It also notes how conservatives are weaponizing race and the issue of racial inequality to advance a counter claim that white Americans are suffering from anti-white racism.

We feel it’s critical to raise awareness of the racist dimensions of the conservative movement’s platform paper, and how it reflects the agenda of white supremacy found within the Christian nationalist movement.

Queers Confronting Autocracy

On a lighter note, we’re also celebrating Pride and the progress of the LGBTQIA+ movement in America and globally – and our resistance to the unrelenting attacks by right-wing forces and Project 2025.

On June 14th, we launched our first video podcast, Revisioning Democracy: Queers Confronting Autocracy, with guest author-activist Sarah Schulman, that discussed the political moment we are in now, and what lessons we can draw from our queer movement to fight against autocracy and – yes – revision What We Want.
